After 400 Days in Control, GOP Still Has No Jobs Agenda
For 400 days, Congressional Republicans have ignored Americans' top priority – jobs.
Instead, they have focused on a long list of partisan priorities: ending the Medicare guarantee, rolling back consumer protections, and making it easier for Wall Street to gamble again with our future, while protecting millionaires, oil companies, and other special interests from having to pay their fair share.
Meanwhile, Congressional Republicans can’t even agree that while the economy is still struggling we shouldn’t be raising taxes on 160 million working families – or slashing unemployment for millions of Americans who can’t find a job.
Despite the obstruction of Republicans in Congress, the actions we took with President Obama to spur economic recovery are working. Last month’s jobs numbers show that we’re on the right track. The economy is picking up. But while the Republicans in Congress are playing games, millions of Americans are still stuck in a dark abyss of uncertainty, with no jobs, no money, and no hope. We should be working to re-ignite the American Dream by investing in those things that have historically made our economy strong - small businesses, entrepreneurs and a thriving middle class.
We can’t wait another year to do what needs to be done. We’ve got a lot of work to do. And we need to get to it. The American people deserve no less.
