Democrats Launch Task Force to Address Seniors' Priorities
For more than a century Democrats have stood on the side of this country’s seniors – in providing for a secure retirement with Social Security and quality health care with Medicare. We take that commitment very seriously and are continuing to work on behalf of American seniors. House Democrats are rebuilding the economy to work for seniors instead of CEOS, and the Middle Class instead of multinational corporations.
Today, the House Democratic Caucus reaffirmed that commitment with the launch of a Task Force on Seniors. This coalition of Democratic House members will work to improve the health and well-being of America’s seniors by reaching out to seniors and making sure their priorities are our priorities.
Chaired by Reps. Jan Schakowsky and Doris Matsui, the Task Force unveiled a Seniors Bill of Rights – legislation that expresses Democrat’s commitment to seniors’ priorities, particularly in the key areas of:
- Financial and economic security;
- Quality, affordable health care;
- Protection from scams and fraud; and
- Safe and livable communities.
