Matlock investigates how seniors will benefit from Health Care Reform
Seniors were targeted by a campaign to scare and confuse them about the impact of health reform. We called in Matlock to help combat the lies about “death panels” and cuts in benefits.
Legendary Actor Andy Griffith honored the 45th Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid in a video today, extolling the benefits of the new Health Care law for senior citizens. His words underscore the strengthening of health services for seniors, and dispel the barrage of misinformation designed to scare them.
Here are just a few ways that the Affordable Health Care Act improves health care for seniors:
- We are closing the “donut hole.” Seniors who fall into the Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage will receive a one-time $250 rebate this year and a 50% discount on drugs until the Donut Hole closes by 2020.
- We ensured access to free preventive care services, such as mammograms, physicals, and screenings.
- We extended the life of the Medicare Trust Fund for a decade.
- We improved the quality of care under Medicare – by rewarding high quality care, encouraging doctors to communicate and cutting out waste, fraud and abuse.
