Demanding Change on Wall Street:
House Democrats Talk Financial Reform with Dr. Elizabeth Warren
Dr. Elizabeth Warren, chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel, joined us at our Caucus meeting this week to talk about making real changes to the way Wall Street does business. She stressed the importance of passing financial reform to rebuild the middle class and put our economy on a strong footing for the future. Dr. Warren is a strong supporter of the Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA) which the House Financial Services Committee voted this week to create.
The CFPA would hold Wall Street accountable, help end abusive industry practices and protect consumers and the market from the irresponsible actions that led to the worst financial crisis in a decade. The CFPA is a major part of the comprehensive reform legislation the House will take up.
