The Time for Jobs is Now
There is no doubt that creating jobs and growing our economy is America’s top priority.
The fourteen million Americans who are looking for work cannot wait. They are our neighbors, our friends, and our family members. And they deserve the simple dignity that only a job can bring.
Yet over 260 days have passed since the GOP has been in control of the House without a single jobs bill.
Worse yet, the GOP has stacked the upcoming agenda to score political points, when instead we need real actions on jobs legislation. Fewer than 30 days (shown below, in beige) remain this year during which the House is scheduled to consider legislation and much of that time will be focused on work related to the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction. Key milestones are highlighted in red.
Since creating jobs is the best way to reduce the deficit, we call on House Republicans to work with us to ensure that each key date for the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction marks progress toward more jobs. That way we keep the focus on jobs, without sacrificing fiscal responsibility.
