Chairman Becerra: Instead Of Governing, Republicans Waste Time On 61st Vote To Repeal Affordable Care Act

October 23, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra (CA-34) released a statement following today’s vote on H.R. 3762, the GOP Reconciliation Act, which passed the House by 240 to 189:

“My Republican colleagues voted today for the 61st time to repeal the Affordable Care Act and to strip 18 million Americans – including two to three million children – of their access to health care. Their vote would also deny millions of women access to life-saving Planned Parenthood services. This bill is going nowhere.

“But here’s the problem. There are only three legislative days left before construction projects to keep our roads and bridges open grind to a halt and five legislative days left to avoid a default on paying our nation’s bills. There’s no time to waste on phony, partisan measures. It’s time for Republicans who control Congress to figure out how to govern so we can get our work done in Washington, DC.”
