Chairman Xavier Becerra on the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013

December 13, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after voting for the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013 (H.J. Res 59):

“This budget resolution represents the least that Congress can do to tackle the most urgent issues facing our country. The American people deserve more than their government careening from crisis to crisis. We must get back to the business of making smart investments to help create jobs to move our economy forward, not sharp, indiscriminate cuts to vital services. With so many important issues before us, Congress cannot shy away from enacting bold solutions that improve the lives of the American people. My hope is that this vote today closes the chapter on shutdown politics and opens the door to a new Congress that is focused on creating jobs, growing the economy and strengthening the middle class.”
