Chairman Xavier Becerra On HHS Actions To Keep Consumers Covered

August 12, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) at the Department of Health and Humans Services (HHS) announced additional actions to keep consumers covered in the federal Marketplace:

“The hard-working employees at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) deserve a shout-out. They’ve been busy reconciling records of hundreds of thousands of Americans who gained affordable health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) this past year. Thanks to their hard work, these Americans will continue to have real and uninterrupted health security and peace of mind. If you, too, have health insurance through the ACA Marketplace and HHS is requesting that you submit outstanding immigration, citizenship or income documents, don’t wait until it’s too late! The deadline to submit the requested documents is September 5.”
