Chairman Xavier Becerra On New “Make It In America” Jobs Bills

June 11, 2014

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, joined Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and other members of the Democratic Caucus to support new bills in the “Make It In America” jobs initiative and released the following statement:

“We need to build an economy that works for all Americans, not just the wealthiest few. Last month’s job report announced 217,000 new jobs and the lowest unemployment rate in five years—a clear sign of progress. Economic recovery would be moving at a much faster pace if only House Republicans would stop putting up ‘brick walls’ around innovation and start voting on commonsense solutions to increase job growth.

“Democratic Whip Hoyer’s Make It In America initiative makes it clear that House Democrats are keeping relentless focus on strengthening the middle class by boosting our country’s manufacturing industry and creating good paying jobs here at home. We need to invest in our workforce locally, so that we can compete globally.

“The middle class is the driving force of our economy. When more of our products are made in America, our families can make it in America.”
