Chairman Xavier Becerra on First One Hundred Days of the 113th Congress

April 12, 2013

WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement to mark the first one hundred days of the 113th Congress:

“In one hundred days, the Republicans who control Congress have failed to stop the reckless budget cuts known as the sequester, which are already having a devastating impact on American families and the important services that they have paid for. Republicans are pursuing passed yet again a misguided proposal to turn Medicare into a voucher program. And, worse yet, in a time when millions of Americans are out of work, they have repeatedly blocked House Democratic initiatives to create jobs, grow the economy and strengthen the middle class. Let’s hope the next one hundred days will bring a renewed sense of common purpose to work together on behalf of the American people and keep our country moving forward.”
