Chairman Xavier Becerra Votes to Protect Women’s Health Rights & Protections

January 28, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after voting against legislation (H.R. 7) that places restrictions on how women with private insurance can spend private dollars in purchasing health insurance.

“Personal health decisions should be made between a woman and her doctor, not by a politician. Instead of wasting the American people’s time on an extreme and divisive agenda, House Republicans should join Democrats this year and take action to create jobs, grow the middle class and strengthen the ladders of opportunity for all aspiring Americans. It’s time to bring down ideological ‘brick walls’ and take up commonsense proposals to reignite the American economy. Let’s get to work.”
