House Democratic Caucus Launches New & Improved Dems.gov Website

December 3, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, and Congressman Joe Crowley (NY-14), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statements on the launch of a new and improved Dems.gov website for the House Democratic Caucus.

“Starting today, the American people will be able to connect with House Democrats like never before,” said Congressman Xavier Becerra, Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus. “Dems.gov is not a typical congressional website. It’s a living, breathing digital platform that will increase the speed and accessibility of communications between Democratic Members in our Caucus and Americans everywhere.”

Dems.gov puts information on our agenda and our members at the fingertips of all Americans,” said Congressman Joe Crowley, Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus. “With exciting new features and enhancements, this website will help the American people better connect with House Democrats and learn more about our efforts to build a stronger America.”

The new Dems.gov website will help increase the free-flow of information sharing that is fundamental to democracy. With custom-built features that integrate over 700 social media channels of House Democrats directly into the new Dems.gov website, visitors are provided with an instant view of Democratic Members in action and in real time. Visitors can read the latest on the House Democratic Caucus agenda to move our country forward or connect with their Democratic Member of Congress using the new interactive directory that is searchable by State, Committee, Caucus, Coalition and Task Force. On top of that, visitors will have access to the new Dems.gov/live feed which will broadcast press conferences and other member events as they occur.

The House Democratic Caucus is also adding Instagram and a Tumblr platform to share images and stories of House Democrats working on behalf of their constituents. These additions build upon an existing digital strategy that embraces informed social media practices and outreach which has effectively grown the number of Americans who engage with House Democrats online:

Dems.gov is just the latest tool from the House Democratic Caucus to connect Democratic Members of Congress with the American people. This year alone, the House Democratic Caucus has helped Democratic Members record over 600 video statements and live broadcasts which provide instant access to events that aren’t always available to the general public.
