Legislation Description
Statutory PAYGO Statutory PAYGO (H.J.Res. 45) would require that new legislation affecting mandatory spending or tax revenue be "budget neutral," or more specifically, that it not increase the deficit. The Statutory PAYGO rule would be enforced through sequestration – or automatic, across-the-board spending cuts.
Cybersecurity Enhancement Act The Cybersecurity Enhancement Act (H.R. 4061), introduced by Representative Daniel Lipinski, would improve the security of cyberspace by ensuring federal investments in cybersecurity are better focused and more effective, and that research into innovative, transformative technologies is supported. The bill would reauthorize and expand the Cyber Security Research and Development Act.
Social Security Disability Applicants’ Access to Professional Representation Act The Social Security Disability Applicants’ Access to Professional Representation Act (H.R. 4532), introduced by Representative John Tanner, would make permanent a provision increasing access to professional representation for disability claimants, especially the most impoverished ones.
Emergency Aid to American Survivors of the Haiti Earthquake Act The Emergency Aid to American Survivors of the Haiti Earthquake Act (S. 2949), provides crucial assistance to American survivors of the earthquake in Haiti.  The bill raises the cap on the U.S.
Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (H.R. 11), introduced by Representative George Miller, rectifies a Supreme Court ruling that made it harder for Americans to pursue discrimination claims. The bill clarifies that every paycheck or other compensation resulting from an earlier discriminatory pay decision constitutes a violation of the Civil Rights Act.  As long as workers file their charges within 180 days of a discriminatory paycheck, their charges would be considered timely.
Aamodt Litigation Settlement Act The Aamodt Litigation Settlement Act (H.R. 3342), introduced by Representative Ben Ray Luján, would help provide water certainty for thousands of New Mexicans who often face water shortages. The bill would authorize, ratify, and confirm the Settlement Agreement dated January 19, 2006, among New Mexico, the Pueblos of Nambe, Pojoaque, San Ildefonso, Tesuque, the United States, the City of Santa Fe, and Santa Fe County.
Taos Pueblo Indian Water Rights Settlement Act The Taos Pueblo Indian Water Rights Settlement Act (H.R. 3254), introduced by Representative Ben Ray Luján, would protect the water rights of the Taos Pueblo, as provided in New Mexico v. Abeyta and New Mexico v. Arellano. The bill would provide the Taos Pueblo with grants and technical assistance to construct, replace, or rehabilitate water infrastructure, to protect the environment associated with the Buffalo Pasture area, and to enhance watershed conditions.
White Mountain Apache Tribe Water Rights Quantification Act The White Mountain Apache Tribe Water Rights Quantification Act (H.R. 1065), introduced by Representative Ann Kirkpatrick, would allow for construction of the Miner Flat Dam and Pipeline in Arizona. This project will provide a much needed drinking water supply to towns on White Mountain Apache tribal lands. The project is critical to those communities, which are constantly threatened with severe shortages, even in good water years.
