Washington, DC -- Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after the Department of Labor announced that the private sector added 159,000 jobs in the month of October.

“Putting the American people back to work has and continues to be the top priority of House Democrats.  Today’s announcement of 159,000 new private sector jobs means that our policies have succeeded in bringing the economy back from the brink of collapse and led to 10 straight months of private sector job growth.

“But, the recovery has not been fast or robust enough.  Too many Americans are still out of work.  And the American people have told us they want us to do more.  We will continue to work for real results for working families.  Our commitment is and remains to improve the lives of hardworking Americans, to create jobs in America rather than to outsource them, and to help small businesses do what they do best, which is to create jobs and innovate.  We will continue to reach across the aisle to make those things happen.”
