Jobs Task Force Accelerates Efforts to Put American People to Work
Washington, DC – Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, Congressman Alcee Hastings (FL-23) and Congresswoman Betty Sutton (OH-13), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Task Force on Job Creation, reaffirmed their commitment to putting the American people back to work today, by accelerating efforts to create jobs and reemploy America. The jobs creation task force is a group of 20 members working together to gather and review ideas for legislation that will create jobs and put our economy on sound footing for the future. The Democratic Caucus is diverse and talented and there is no shortage of ideas on the table.
The task force would also like to join President Obama in hearing from the American people. The government alone cannot fix our economic problems; we must work with the American people and small businesses around the country to create jobs and rebuild our economy. That’s why we are inviting all Americans to go to

“We believe America can emerge from this recession and create good-paying jobs if we all work together,” said Congressman Larson. “That is why we are inviting all of you to take part in this recovery that will put our economy back on solid footing.”
“Millions of Americans, including many in my own district in South Florida, are struggling with unemployment each and every single day and are unable to find work. With a national unemployment rate of 10.2 percent, Congress must boldly find solutions to turn our economy around,” said Congressman Hastings. “I am extremely pleased to co-chair the Democratic Congressional Task Force on Job Creation with my colleague, Congresswoman Betty Sutton of Ohio. Together, we will lead this critically important effort to put Americans back to work. Americans have always come together in difficult times. We will meet our present challenges and put our country once again on the road to prosperity.”
“CBO has recently reported that the Recovery Act saved or created between 600,000 and 1.6 million jobs, reduced unemployment and increased the GDP. While that demonstrates progress is being made, too many ordinary Americans are still suffering under the effects of the economic recession. Far too many across the country are without a job and many more worry about what tomorrow will bring. We must continue to work in an immediate, smart and effective way to create jobs and help facilitate rapid re-employment for our constituents, and that’s what this task force is all about,” said Congresswoman Sutton.
