Legislation sheds light on role of special interests in elections
Washington, DC – Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement in support of the DISCLOSE Act, legislation to shed light on the role of special interests in elections.
“The Disclose Act is an important piece of our reform agenda and one of the most sweeping pieces of campaign finance reform legislation Congress has taken up in years. It is vitally important to restore the American people’s trust in their government and shed light on the special interests that are spending millions of dollars to influence political campaigns.
“The American people are demanding a change in how business is done in Washington. I believe that taking up and passing the DISCLOSE Act is an important step towards achieving that change.
“With the backing of Obama Administration and a promise from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to take up similar legislation in the Senate, it is vital that we move forward with this legislation now.
