Larson Statement on the Passing of Cong. Donald Payne

WASHINGTON –House Democratic Caucus Chairman John B. Larson (CT) released the following statement on the passing of Congressman Donald Payne (D-NJ) this morning:

“What a terrible loss for New Jersey, the nation and the world. Donald dedicated his life to helping the less fortunate and expanding and protecting human rights everywhere in a low-key, but very effective way. From his work on the Education Committee and as a leader of the Congressional Black Caucus fighting for federal support for low income school districts and a balanced playing field for all Americans, to his focus on the plight of African nations, Donald was always right there pressing for America to do the right thing towards those who need our help the most.

“He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to family at this sorrowful time.”
