Consolidated Appropriations Act

The Consolidated Appropriations Act (H.R. 3288) would continue funding to vital federal agencies and programs.  This bill makes targeted investments in areas that will rebuild our economy and keep our country safe.  It builds on our long term economic plan to provide short term help for the hardest hit Americans during this economic crisis and long term solutions to grow our economy for years to come.

  • $122.1 billion for Transportation, HUD, & Related Agencies.  This bill focuses on investing in our nation’s transportation infrastructure, providing assistance to vulnerable populations, revitalizing local communities, addressing the transportation and housing needs of rural communities, and minimizing the number of people who lose their lives or are injured in their travels.
  • $163.565 billion for Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, & Related Agencies. The bill focuses upon training people for jobs, shoring up health and social safety nets to provide relief for millions of hard-working Americans caught in a struggle for economic survival, and providing the educational opportunities that are critical to the nation’s longer-term prosperity.  The bill would invest $1.4 billion in training and support services for workers impacted by mass layoffs and plant closures.
  • $64.416 billion for the Department of Commerce and Justice, as well as the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, & Related Agencies.  The bill would help our nation combat crime, terrorism, and illegal narcotics, enable new discoveries in science, improve and protect our nation’s waters, and provide appropriate, humane care for our inmate population.
  • $134.6 billion for Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, & Related Agencies. The bill would invest in projects and programs of critical importance to America’s veterans and military troops and their families. This includes investments in veterans’ benefits and healthcare, and military family housing, barracks, and mission critical facilities.  The bill would also boost funding for military construction and foreign operations in order to make sure our troops have all of the equipment and facilities they need to keep our country safe.
  • $48.764 billion for State, Foreign Operations, & Related Programs. This bill provides needed assistance to frontline states – Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq – and it promotes security, economic development, health, education, food security, and environmental protection around the world.
  • $24.186 billion for Financial Services and General Government Expenses.  The bill would strengthen our financial services regulatory agencies while making critical investments in small businesses and economic development programs for disadvantaged communities.  In particular, the bill would support small businesses, the engines of job growth in this country, by providing additional funds for lending for firms having trouble borrowing funds in this market.
