Chairman Crowley Statement on the North Korea Summit Agreement

(Washington, D.C.) – House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx) issued the following statement after the conclusion of the summit between President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un:

“With the potential for peace on the Korean peninsula, diplomacy must remain at the forefront and a reliable and lasting and denuclearization agreement should be the ultimate goal. And while establishing a diplomatic framework for future negotiations is an important step forward, the Trump administration’s dismissal of our allies and partners, as well as its lack of a concrete strategy, raises serious concerns.

“The United States needs a strategic effort to engage our partners and flesh out an agreement that includes reliable verification.  That means the State Department must ensure it has the personnel in place to carry forward a real, effective, and peaceful strategy.”
