CHAIRMAN JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON HOUSE PASSAGE OF INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AND JOBS ACT

WASHINGTON, DC – Following the passage of H.R. 3684 – the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement:

“Today, House Democrats delivered real and transformational change to every single American, consistent with our promise that we would fix our broken infrastructure and do it in a comprehensive way.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is the largest single federal investment in infrastructure in the history of the Republic. It will fix our crumbling bridges, roads, tunnels, airports and mass transit systems. It will tackle the climate crisis with the fierce urgency of now through green, sustainable and resilient investments. It will provide millions of good-paying jobs for hardworking people throughout our county. It will ensure that there's broadband access throughout America, including in inner city America, rural America, small town America and Appalachia, which are at risk of being left behind in a 21st century innovation economy.

President Biden has correctly indicated that we're not going to go back to normal, that we are going to Build Back Better. In that regard, this historic legislation represents a huge leap forward on behalf of everyday Americans. With momentum on our side and the American people pushing us ahead, House Democrats look forward to getting the rest of President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda across the finish line very soon.”
