Statement from Chairman Aguilar on the Retirement of Congresswoman Grace Napolitano

SAN BERNARDINO, CA — House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar issued the following statement on Congresswoman Grace Napolitano’s retirement announcement:

“For nearly 25 years, Congresswoman Grace Napolitano has been a steadfast champion for working families in the San Gabriel Valley and across Southern California. Whether through her work on the Transportation Committee or leadership as Co-Chair of the Mental Health Caucus and former Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, she has made a lasting and meaningful difference in the lives of her constituents.

“As someone who represents a neighboring district, I’ve had the opportunity to witness up close her devotion to her community, the region and our state. Through her work as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment, Congresswoman Napolitano has been a driving force in securing clean drinking water, improving water conservation, cleaning up our waterways and building resilient infrastructure.

“Her decades-long commitment to tackling the mental health crisis and eliminating its stigma has been most evident in our Caucus’ commitment to increased investments in resources and support for children and families, including funding for mental health professionals in schools.

“Driven by her trailblazing spirit, Congresswoman Napolitano will leave an extraordinary legacy in the Halls of Congress. Our Caucus, especially our California delegation, is incredibly grateful for her guidance and leadership over the years. We wish her and her family all the best in the future.”
