Statement from Chairman Aguilar on Laphonza Butler's Senate Appointment

SAN BERNARDINO, CA — House Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar released the following statement on Governor Gavin Newsom appointing Laphonza Butler to the United States Senate: 

"I want to congratulate Laphonza Butler on this historic day for our state. I’m confident she will serve the people of California in the U.S. Senate with dignity and a deep commitment to our shared values. I am excited to work with her, alongside Senator Alex Padilla, to put People Over Politics as House Democrats prioritize lowering costs, creating good-paying jobs, building safer communities and defending democracy. I applaud Governor Newsom for his deliberate and fair process to ensure that all Californians have a voice in Congress."
